etika is proud to announce a new partnership with KinKera Community(KinKera) to provide funding to design and build Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

SDA is housing that has been designed and built to suit the needs of people who have ‘extreme functional impairment’ or ‘very high support needs’. Along with funding for SDA eligible people, the NDIS also provides funding for up to 24/7 support for residents to promote living independently in the SDA housing option of their choice.

The AU Country Manager at etika, Marnix Poot said, “This is an amazing opportunity to have a positive impact on people’s lives. It aligns well with etika’s ethical values in providing fair and flexible finance, in a socially responsible way.”

KinKera develops comfortable, well-designed homes so people with disabilities can live independent, happy and safe lives.  Located close to transport and shops, the enriched community provides people with opportunities for full inclusion in social and cultural aspects of life.

Ian Jordan, KinKera Community Director and Founder says “This funding enables KinKera to continue to develop SDA housing around Australia as well as expand our offerings to provide education, employment, capacity building, and other opportunities for people.”

Technologically supported living - the future of disability accommodation

Mr Poot said “In Australia there is currently only a very small number of Providers focusing on SDA for people with intellectual or psychosocial disabilities, with KinKera firmly committed to be the leader in this style of SDA. They have the experience and key relationships in place with numerous stakeholders to provide the scale needed. Our funding will help speed up the developments to provide more homes for those that need them.”

Each home is designed using high tech specially-designed products and internal fitouts, to remove the many challenges people with disabilities have in their daily lives. From larger bathrooms and specially fitted kitchens, access to 24/7 support, as well as fully automated smart technology - KinKera leverages intuitive technology to aid residents in their everyday life.
